I've been interested in fireworks and other explosives since I was about 6 or something. I made my first homemade fireworks when I was 10 or 11. I had done some stuff with estes rockets, and got the idea to use powder from an estes engine to make something. I got some powder from one and filled an empty 9mm shell with powder and put a fuse in it. I didn't really know anything about pyrotechnics yet, so it just went poof and make a neat little smoke ring. A little later we figured out we needed better casings if we wanted it to actually explode. We put a pile of powder in the middle of a piece of toilet paper and stuck a fuse in it. Then we pulled up the corners and wrapped the whole thing in a bunch of tape. They worked pretty well. From then on, I was hooked!
